'An Evening With Joe Locke'
at the Royal Academy of Music

Following on from the highly successful 'An Evening With...' event, the Royal Academy of Music Timpani and Percussion Department welcomes the great American Vibraphonist/Composer Joe Locke.

Having played with Dizzy Gillespie, Mongo Santamaria, Grover Washington Jr., Eddie Daniels, Bob Berg, Ron Carter, Bobby Hutcherson, Geoffrey Keezer and Randy Brecker amongst many others, Joe is regarded by many to be the most gifted vibraphonist of his generation and brings his own dynamic style of music making to this concert, featuring students from the Timpani & Percussion and Jazz departments. The concert will include an interview with Joe by Neil Percy, Principal Percussionist with the London Symphony Orchestra and Head of the Timpani and Percussion Department, in a fascinating insight into Joe's career, influences and approach to improvisation. Joe will be playing many of his own compositions, as well as premier his new music for vibes and percussion ensemble.

This is sure to be an exciting evening of music making between the students and this highly gifted musician.
