Joe Locke wins 2006 Mallet Player of the Year Award
Joe Locke proudly received the Jazz Journalists Association 2006 award for Mallet Player of the Year, voted on by JJA's approximately 400 professional members on Monday, June 19, at the annual gala presented at B. B. King's Blues Club and Grill, in New York City.

This unique recording of virtuoso performances from two mallet masters has no immediate plans for commercial release but will be distributed to various world wide percussion societies and ensembles to promote The Duo's touring and workshops, and be sold at those venues and performances.

The Frank Kimbrough / Joe Locke Duo : Verrazano Moon
In their first live recording, the piano-vibes duo of Frank Kimbrough and Joe Locke, described by the press as "stunning" and "luminous," present the gentler side of "adventurous and listenable." Verrazano Moon, their third CD for OmniTone, is a well-balanced mix of originals and standards yielding deliciously rich and beautiful music that both sophisticated listener and good music lover will enjoy time and again.

Verrazano Moon will be released in October 2006 on Omnitone Records.

Detroit Jazz Festival 2006
Joe Locke & The Milt Jackson Tribute Band is honored to headline the Detroit Jazz Festival on Labor Day, September 4th, in Bag's hometown.

 

Milt Jackson Tribute Band Italian Tour 2007
Joe Locke & The Milt Jackson Tribute Band will be on tour in Italy during January 25 - February 07, 2007.



UK Tour: Momentum - The Music of Tim Garland and Graham Fitkin
(w/ Geoffrey Keezer, John Patitucci + Neil Percy and other members of the London Symphony Orchestra and the London Philharmonic Orchestra).
March 12 - 22, 2007

‘Momentum’ is a bold attempt to fuse the complexity of both composers’ music into a coherent whole. It will be presented as a contemporary concerto grosso, with the improvising trio of Garland, Keezer and Locke at its core. The larger group of six players will both reflect and prompt the smaller. The double bass will feature prominently, and will act as the fulcrum between the two ensembles. All of the music will be written specially for this tour.
