Joe Locke on German Television
On September 21, German TV channel 3sat will be broadcasting this year's JazzBaltica concert of Trio Da Paz, featuring Joe Locke, which was recorded on July 01, 2007 in Salzau.
The same concert will also be released as a live album on the MaxJazz label next year. Stay tuned for more details.

European tour confirmed: Germany, Italy, Spain
The Joe Locke Quartet - featuring Jonathan Kreisberg, Joe LaBarbera and Jay Anderson - are getting ready for an extensive 3-week tour of Europe in November, with dates in Berlin, Cologne, Naples, Bologna, Palermo and Lugo, to name just a few.

The Group will be promoting their new recording "Sticks & Strings", which is going to be released exclusively in Italy at the end of October on the JazzEyes label.

New Joe Locke mallet from Pro-Mark
Pro-Mark, working with Joe, have just developed a second Joe Locke signature mallet. The new mallet is harder than the original PJL model, and is designed to cut through in acoustic situations. It will be available - alongside the existing PJL - at Pro-Mark from later this year.

David Hazeltine "The Inspiration Suite"
For the first time since the critically acclaimed 1999 album "Mutual Admiration Society", Joe has joined his friend David Hazeltine in the studio for the new Sharp Nine recording "The Inspiration Suite". Putting Joe and saxophonist Eric Alexander in the front line, David is further supported by John Webber and Joe Farnsworth in the rhythm section.

With the music of "The Inspiration Suite" Hazeltine is honoring his great influences, legendary pianists Cedar Walton and Buddy Montegomery. The album will be on general release from September 18.

Recording project with Hadley Caliman
Joe is excited to be going into Triad Studios in Seattle on September 19th and 20th to record a new project for tenor legend Hadley Caliman. "I was inspired by Hadley's work with Bobby Hutcherson and Freddie Hubbard, and I practically wore through the grooves on his 'Projecting' LP, I listened to it so many times", says Joe. "It's an honor to get the opportunity to record with him".

Playing trumpet and producing the session is Thomas Marriott. Drummer Joe LaBarbera and bassist Phil Sparks complete the band.

Look for the release of this project on the Origin label in 2008.
