'An Evening With Joe Locke' at
London's Royal Academy of Music
 Following
an invitation by the RAM, Joe will be the featured guest in their
highly successful 'An Evening With...' series. The concert will include an
interview with Joe by Neil Percy, Principal Percussionist with the London
Symphony Orchestra and Head of the Timpani and Percussion Department, providing
insights into Joe's career, influences and approach to
improvisation. The event will also premier Joe's new music for vibes and
percussion ensemble.

Joe Locke Quartet on tour in Europe
 Promoting his new release "Sticks &
Strings", Joe is taking his quartet, featuring Jonathan Kreisberg, Jay
Anderson and Joe LaBarbera, on the road in Europe next month. On the three week

New Joe Locke mallet from Pro-Mark
 Pro-Mark, working with Joe, have just
developed a second Joe Locke signature mallet. The PJL2 is harder than the original
model, and is designed to cut through in acoustic situations. The new mallet
will be available - alongside the existing PJL - from Pro-Mark later this year.
Look out for Joe's ads in Downbeat Magazine starting in November.

New Music Award nomination
Joe has just been listed as nominee for this years' New Music Award in the "College"
category. The NMA are one of the few independent award programs,
born from an original idea by legendary radio programmer Bill Gavin, allowing
the audience to vote for their favourite musicians online.

Recording News
 "Sticks
and Strings"
For his latest release as a band leader, Joe gathered the talents of guitarist
Jonathan Kreisberg, bassist Jay Anderson and drummer Joe LaBarbera to record
these seven originals and two standards, which will be available from early
November. For this project, Joe created a 'sticks
and strings theme', that goes much further than the musicians' tools it seems to
represent.
