Due to a busy touring schedule involving the whole team, this month's newsletter arrives a couple of weeks late. For his latest release as a band leader, Joe gathered the talents of guitarist Jonathan Kreisberg, bassist Jay Anderson and drummer Joe LaBarbera to record these seven originals and two standards. For this project, Joe created a 'sticks and strings theme', that goes much further than the musicians' tools it seems to represent.

Recording News
Joe heads into the studio for new Wayne Escoffery recording
Once again Joe Locke will be joining NY Saxophonist Wayne Escoffery for the follow-up recording of his highly successful "Veneration" project, which was recorded live at Smoke Jazz Club in NYC last year, and released this September
on the Savant label. Completing the band for this session at Bennett Studios on November 28 + 29 are Lewis Nash, Hans Glawischnig, Tom Harrell, Johnathan Blake

Looking back
 'An Evening with Joe Locke' at London's
RAM
It was a wonderful experience for Joe to work with such a great bunch of young talents from both the Jazz and Classic departments for four days of rehearsing, exchanging, listening and learning at the Royal Academy of Music in London earlier this month. All came together on November 2nd with an exciting and atmospheric concert at the RAM's beautiful Dukes Hall.
Joe would like to thank everyone who helped to make this event happen, especially Manuel Archiega, Elizabeth Barker, Daniel Bradley, Adam Clifford, Sarah Cresswell, Kit Downes, Freddie Gavita, Robbie Gibson, Calum Gourley, David Hamblett, Tommy Laurence, Ellie Pydall, Scott Lumsdaine, Hannah Melvin-Smith...

 The Joe Locke Quartet on tour in Germany
Particularly since Joe's celebrated success at the 2007 JazzBaltica Festival,
German audiences have been embracing him as an exciting live performer.
Therefore Joe was happy to come back for four concerts in Minden, Kiel, Berlin
and Köln – this time bringing no other than Joe LaBarbera (drums), Jonathan
Kreisberg (guitar) and Jay Anderson (bass) - to promote their new recording
"Sticks and
Strings".
A big thank-you goes to Rainer Haarmann, Artistic Director of JazzBaltica, for
his initiative, drive and warm support in preparation of this German leg of the
Quartet's European tour, and for welcoming the band at his beautiful home near
Kiel. Joe also wishes to thank everyone at Jazz Club Minden, A-Trane Jazz Club
in Berlin,
Altes Pfandhaus
in
Köln and Rainer Placke.
The Joe Locke Quartet are now touring Italy for another week until November 24,
2007.
And just in case we haven't pointed it out enough yet, the album "Sticks and
Strings", released on the
JazzEyes label, is now available
