Joe Locke on
Hadley Caliman's "Gratitude"

Last September,
Joe was honoured to be invited by Saxophonist Hadley Caliman, to guest on his
upcoming recording "Gratitude" (Origin), his first in over 30 years.
Caliman, one of the preeminent post-bop saxophonists alive, studied with Dexter
Gordon, played with Gerald Wilson’s Big Band, the Bobby Bryant Band, and Mongo
Santamaria in the ’50s. He later toured throughout the US and Europe, and
recorded with Freddie Hubbard, Joe Henderson, Bobby Hutcherson and Santana
through the ’70s.
The new album, which also features drummer Joe La Barbera, trumpeter Thomas
Marriott and bassist Phil Sparks, will be launched in style with a release party
on March 21, 2008 in Seattle at Tula’s Jazz Club.

record the forthcoming album "Force of Four", which is going to be released later
this year on the Origin label.
